Everybody's Working For The Weekend

This has been such a long week. 
BUT IT'S FRIDAY.
And I'm officially on Spring Break. 

So what do I intend to do over the next week?
1. Visit grandpa (a given).
2. Go to my college classes. (High School spring break and College Spring break aren't the same.)
3. Sleep in.
4. Watch my favorite movies. 
5. Finish Animal Vegetable Miracle
6. Start my vegetable garden.
7. RUN RUN RUN.

Last week mom agreed to donate a patch of our side yard to me as the site for my new project: 

Project Vegetable. 
I'm eager to start growing my own vegetables. 
I eat plenty as it is, so why not grow them?
We went to the seed store and bough basil, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, yellow squash, and cucumbers.
Unfortunately, it's been raining so I can't plant them yet, but I'm going to prep the area this weekend regardless.

Of course, I'll be running a lot too.
Just because I'm starting another venture in my life doesn't mean I'll give up on my one true love!

Marginal Benefits

So I didn't go into either of my high school classes because I was exhausted this morning and my throat hurt. 
But after an extra hour of sleep, I got up, made some tea, and checked my email. 
And I got into the Peachtree Road Race!

I'm super excited because for the first time, Peachtree was a lottery.
And it's the first time I'll be doing it. 

And after I drank my tea, I was feeling a lot better and went on a relatively lax run.

Unfortunately, I have an Econ test at the college today and I'm pretty sure I'm going to bomb it. 
But I enjoyed my run, nonetheless.
And getting into Peachtree kind of neutralizes my impending failure.

Food Fight

So I feel like I've been eating way too much food lately. 
But at the same time, I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. 
I know I'm exercising a lot and that none of what I'm eating is junk food.
Still, with all my past food struggles, it's always hard to know whether or not I'm eating the right amount. 

But I ran five miles today.
And even though it was rather cold and rainy outside, I'm glad I did it. 
My grandpa also seemed to be doing a bit better today. 
He joked around with me more than he did yesterday, which is always a good sign. 

He's told me not to spread myself too thin by visiting him so often, but I can tell that the company perks him up. 

The two of us about 3 or 4 years ago during Christmas.

It's Been a Long Week

So it's Sunday and I think I'm more exhausted than I was on Friday. 
Never a good sign.

My grandfather drove his bulldog (golf cart type of vehicle) over the bank of their creek (which is about ten feet high). He got trapped underneath the vehicle and hit his head on a rock. 
We met the ambulance at the hospital and when they wheeled him in, he was covered in blood. 
But he's ok. 

He tore his rotator cuff and has a subdural hematoma, but he's alive.

So I've been driving back and forth to spend time with them and even spent the night on Thursday to monitor his symptoms. 

I wasn't sure whether I should run on Saturday morning, but he insisted that I do it. He's been proud of my running over the past year. 

So I ran for him, and I think it was the best for both of us. I got to run out some of the stress and he got to feel like he was giving me a break. 

Running Saturday morning might have been the most selfish thing I did this week, but it ended up helping more than just me.
